Mountaineer Pet Care Center offers several dog boarding accommodation options so dogs can stay in an environment that fits their size, age, confidence level, and comfort around other pets. Our team can help you choose the boarding option that is most appropriate for your dog.
Facility tours are welcome during regular operating hours. No appointment is required, although you are welcome to call ahead if you prefer.

Boarding Accommodations for Different Needs and Comfort Levels
Mountaineer Pet Care Center offers private luxury suites, indoor/outdoor suites, quieter suite areas, and indoor suites for dogs that may prefer closer staff visibility.
Winter & Autumn Forest Luxury Suites
The Winter Forest and Autumn Forest are private luxury suites measuring 12 feet by 14 feet. Each suite includes four human windows and two dog-door windows, along with 24-hour access to a private fenced outdoor yard.
Additional amenities include:
- Toy box
- Adjustable-height food and water bowls
- Leather couches
- Ceiling fans
- Television with dog-oriented DVDs
Spring Forest Indoor/Outdoor Suites
The Spring Forest area includes 25 indoor/outdoor suites with extra-large pet runs, see-through sealed pet doors, and security doors. During staffed hours, dogs have access to their private outdoor run.
These suites include resting pads and age-appropriate bedding.
Meadow Indoor/Outdoor Suites
The newly renovated Meadow suites (5 feet by 12 feet indoors and 12 feet by 12 feet outdoors) offer similar amenities to the Spring Forest suites in a quieter area with less visual contact with other pets. These suites include indoor and outdoor space, a pet sofa, resting pads, and 24-hour music.
This area may be especially useful for older dogs or dogs that become nervous around other pets.
Wooded Path Indoor Suites
The Wooded Path area includes indoor-only suites in a space where dogs have a constant view of staff. This area may be a better fit for very small, timid, or elderly pets that are less comfortable with the sights and sounds of other animals.
Elderly pets are provided orthopedic bedding, while smaller pets may have pet tents for added privacy.
Daily Exercise and Staff Interaction Are Included
Exercise is included with dog boarding. Mountaineer Pet Care Center has seven outdoor exercise areas, with areas ranging from 350 square feet to 4,500 square feet. The facility has also continued investing in its outdoor spaces, including the addition of K-9 Grass, a top-of-the-line pet friendly synthetic turf that's safe and comfortable for all dogs.
Dogs are exercised multiple times daily. Exercise is provided individually or in family groups, with staff participation. Dogs from different families are not mixed in the exercise areas.
Playtime may include:
- Toys
- Balls
- Pool time
- Staff interaction
- Time in outdoor exercise yards
Activities vary based on each dog’s interest, participation, and comfort level.
Care Options for Senior, Small, Nervous, or Limited-Mobility Dogs
Some dogs are more comfortable with a more secure and controlled setup. For senior dogs, very small dogs, nervous dogs, or dogs with limited mobility, Mountaineer Pet Care Center may use secure stainless steel enclosures that provide visibility while helping the dog feel safely contained.
These pets still receive exercise, attention, and staff care throughout the day.
Food, Treats, Bedding, and Personal Care
Mountaineer Pet Care Center provides Purina Pro Plan premium pet food and feeds pets twice daily. Breakfast is served between 7:00am and 8:00am, and dinner is served between 3:00pm and 4:00pm. Diabetic pets are fed at 7:00am and 7:00pm in conjunction with injections.
Owners may also bring their pet’s regular food from home. Food should be separated into individual portions and labeled clearly.
Bedding is provided for boarding pets and exchanged daily. Dogs are provided with washable fleece bedding, and geriatric pets receive memory foam beds with soft washable covers.
Treats are provided during daily staff interaction unless the owner advises otherwise or the pet has allergies or special dietary restrictions.
Medication Support
Medication administration is available during boarding for a flat daily fee. All medications must be provided at check-in with written dosage and administration instructions.
Owners are asked to bring enough medication for at least two additional days in case their return is delayed.
Safety, Supervision, and Facility Security
Mountaineer Pet Care Center staff are on premises caring for pets from 6:30am to 9:00pm daily. The facility also has 24-hour video surveillance and fire security.
Dog boarding guests must have required vaccinations on file before receiving services. Mountaineer Pet Care Center requires written proof of current vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian, and vaccinations must be administered at least 48 hours before check-in.
For safety reasons, Mountaineer Pet Care Center may not be able to accommodate dogs that show aggression toward people.
What to Bring, What to Leave at Home
Mountaineer Pet Care Center provides food, bedding, bowls, water, blankets, toys, and treats. Owners may bring medications or personal food if needed.
Because storage space is limited, owners should review Mountaineer Pet Care Center’s policies before bringing personal items from home.
Rates, Reservations, and Pickup Details
Boarding guests may be dropped off and picked up during standard office hours:
- Monday through Friday: 9:00am to 6:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
To avoid an additional boarding day charge, boarding guests must be picked up before 12:00pm on the day of checkout.
Dog boarding rates are based on the room selected, not the size of the dog or whether pets from the same family share a run. Boarding rates are all-inclusive and based on the care provided by the Mountaineer Pet Care Center team.
